About MeI specialize in working with clients who are open to alternative methods of health and who are committed to educating themselves. My travels to Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia have ignited a passion for learning of the philosophies of medicine that are very different from my upbringing. I earned my title as a Registered Aromatherapist studying complementary and alternative medicine at the American College of Healthcare Sciences and sitting for the Aromatherapy Registration Council's exam in April 2016. In June of 2012 I began my quest to become a Certified Professional Midwife and trained as a birth doula with the amazing Debbie Lavin of Doula Space. In September of 2013 I began my didactic work at the Midwives College of Utah to earn the degree of Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM). I have worked for many years as a volunteer in my community mentoring young women ages 12 to 18 and with the Boy Scouts of America. I have also worked in three U.S. Embassies, in Madrid, Cairo and Singapore. My life’s passion is to serve in any capacity that presents itself. I use the knowledge gained in my studies and from my life experience to support my family’s health demands and to empower those around me. I have sought to lead a life of Christian humility. Diplomatic to the core, my life has been devoted to Family, God and Country. As I strive to “stand in the office which I have [been] appointed…; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees” (Doctrine & Covenants 81:5) I hope to one day hear the beloved words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant:… enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21).

My Philosophy of Practice |
I recognize healthy clients as the primary decision makers throughout the childbearing experience, I provide care and advice to clients prior to and during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period, and guide clients to give birth to and care for their newborn infants during the postnatal period. This includes preventative measures, protocols for variations and deviations from norm, detection of complications in the clint and baby, the procurement of medical assistance when necessary and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. I respect the autonomy of clients by working in partnership with them and recognizing individual and shared responsibilities.
I uphold clients' rights to make informed choices about the manner and circumstance of wellness, pregnancy, and childbirth, and facilitate this process by providing complete, relevant, objective information in a non-authoritarian and supportive manner, while continually assessing safety considerations and risks to clients, informing them of same. |
Why do I want to be a Certified Professional Midwife? |
My greatest passion for becoming a midwife has been to educate clients about the miracle of the human reproductive system specifically and the human body in general. Teaching clients about the beauty of the healing processes, the divine endowment of the reproductive system to create life and then to bring that life into our sphere of existence is sacred to me. I have felt the call to autonomous practice so that I may honor client-centered care that is truly individualized care with clients recognized as the true and only caregivers for themselves and their babies.
